Protection versus wildfire hazard

Response access and wildfire likelihood answer different questions.

Quick answer

Protection describes routed access to a fire station. Wildfire hazard describes the likelihood and severity context of outdoor fire. Either signal can be strong while the other is elevated.

Why it matters

A nearby station does not remove fuel, slope, wind, or ignition exposure. High wildfire hazard does not establish a remote station route.

Check Protection for a specific property

Protection is calculated for a US street address from routed station distance, drive time, and station type. Area inventories provide context but do not receive a Protection number.
